One
concept that I think could use further discussion is the idea of interviewing
as it is something that many of use will be delving into after graduation and
when we finally enter the job market. In short, interviewing is a form of
two-way communication have predetermined purpose in which participant ask and answer
questions. Interviews are used to do such things as orient new employees and
evaluate job performance. With that said, it is always important to prepare for
an interview especially if it has occupational purposes. You want to have a
clear understanding of all your work content skills, transferable skills and
self-management skills. Not only that, but you want to be able to successfully
rely these skills in an intelligible manner to your interviewer. To help with
your interview, you also want to have a well structure resume and cover letter
that directly addresses the needs of your employer.
Hello wobbly, I like how you brought up the concept of interviewing, because that is a concept that wouldn’t had crossed my mind. You made good points of how interviewing is a form of interaction and the importance of an interview. It is interesting to see that a simple interview can change someone’s life if they get the job. The way we express ourselves in an interview will determine if we qualify for the job or not. This is one form of communication that I get extremely nervous and anxious about, even more than speaking in front of hundreds of people. I think the reason why I get nervous, is because it is a one on one interaction with someone I do not know. I also feel that I am being analyzed by what I say and my body movements and facial expressions, which cause this nervous feeling. I really like your post because you brought up an interesting point.
ReplyDeleteHey WobbeldyWa! After reading your post I could not agree more with you. I think interviewing is a important communication skill that we should know. We are college students, and as we get older we need to know how to manage an interview. Personally, I have never been interviewed for a job, but I have been interviewed for a modeling agency. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew to be myself. One thing I was told is that body language tells a lot. I had terrible posture when I was being interviewed. She definitely did not hesitate to call me out. It was somewhat embarrassing, but it taught me a lot. Ever since then I have been working on my posture.
